Lucy Lilyfield with Blue Wren Bhakti blends the timeless beauty of traditional Indian rāga and authentic Sanskrit mantra with uplifting contemporary kirtans, creating an experience that is both deeply meditative and joyfully accessible. Whether you choose to sing every mantra or simply sit back and absorb the music, everyone is welcome.
At the heart of the group is Lucy, whose powerful, expressive vocals are beautifully complemented by harmonium and tanpura. A dedicated student of traditional Vedic chant, Sanskrit and Indian devotional music, she has spent years immersed in the study of authentic pronunciation, melody and the rich tradition of Indian sacred sound, bringing both authenticity and heartfelt devotion to every performance.
Joining Lucy is Steve “Pirate” McDonnell, whose dynamic djembe playing provides the driving heartbeat of the music, while the deep, earthy resonance of the didgeridoo adds a uniquely Australian voice to the ancient sounds of India.
Jeremy joins on guitar and djembe. With a background in jazz and contemporary music, he recently discovered a love for the extraordinary beauty and emotional depth of Indian rāga, bringing warmth and texture to Blue Wren Bhakti’s sound.
Together, Blue Wren Bhakti creates an atmosphere that is joyful, grounding and inspiring—an invitation to sing, meditate, connect and experience the profound power of sacred sound in community.
No experience is necessary—just bring yourself and an open heart. We look forward to sharing this beautiful evening with you.
